Common Water Heater Emergencies We Handle on Long Island
The list below covers about 95% of emergency calls we take from Long Island homeowners. If your situation looks like one of these, call now.
- ⚠No hot water at all. Could be pilot, thermocouple, gas valve, element, or thermostat. We diagnose, then decide repair vs replace.
- ⚠Leaking from the bottom of the tank. Tank has rusted through. There is no repair. We replace, often the same day.
- ⚠Burst water heater / flooding. Shut the cold water supply valve at the top. Shut off the gas or power to the unit. Call us. We'll dispatch fast.
- ⚠Pilot light won't stay lit. Most common emergency call. Usually a failing thermocouple. Often a same-day fix on the spot.
- ⚠Loud rumbling, popping, or banging. Hard-water sediment crust at the tank bottom. Indicator of either a flush-and-keep or an early replacement, depending on age.
- ⚠Rusty or brown hot water. Interior of the tank is corroding. The unit is on its way out.
- ⚠T&P valve dripping or spraying. Safety relief is doing its job. Often signals over-pressure or temperature issue that needs to be fixed before something bigger goes wrong.
- ⚠Tankless error codes. We service Navien and Rinnai units, including descale-related failures and ignition errors.
